Our story
Why this publication exists
Nigeria has the largest technology ecosystem in Africa by almost every measure that matters: funded companies, engineering talent, capital deployed, and global attention. What it has lacked is consistent, rigorous coverage written for the people building inside it, and for how they connect to what is happening everywhere else.
Most tech reporting falls into one of two failure modes. Global outlets cover Silicon Valley, London, and a handful of other hubs, and treat the rest of the world as an afterthought. Regionally focused outlets cover their own market well but rarely connect it to the bigger picture. Neither is useful if you are a founder deciding what to build, an engineer deciding what to learn, or an investor deciding where to look next.
TechInNaija was started to close that gap. We cover technology wherever it happens, from Lagos to San Francisco to Bangalore, and we write about it for the founder in Yaba, the engineer in Abuja, and the product manager working remotely from Port Harcourt, just as much as for readers anywhere else. The standard we hold ourselves to is simple: would someone working in this industry find this worth their time?
We are based in Nigeria, and Nigeria is always where we start. But technology today is a global story, and covering it properly means following it wherever it leads.

Claims get sourced. Where data exists, we cite it. Where it does not, we say so rather than filling the gap with confident guessing.
We write about what is, not what should be
Technology, in Nigeria and everywhere else, is genuinely exciting and genuinely difficult. Coverage that only reflects one of those two things is not useful to anyone making decisions.
We explain rather than impress
Jargon is a way of hiding. If a concept matters, it can be explained in plain language, and we would rather do that than sound clever.
